We've had some big updates since the last post. Ellie was cast as one of the orphans, Kate, for Lincoln High School's "Annie". She will have a couple of lines and will be in all of the orphan dancing numbers. We have been really impressed with the director so far. One of the parents thought his kid had learned more in three days than in three years of paid acting lessons. He has a dynamic personality and is great with the kids. Ellie was telling us that the director told them, "If you forget your dance steps then look to the person next to you. If they don't know either, then just DAZZLE!!!" Opening night is May 1st and we are all very excited.
The other big update is about Maile. She has been snoring a bit loudly at night and our doctor is now recommending we have her tonsils removed. The surgery is scheduled for May 6th. :-(
In other updates, Roger took Ellie and Nisa to the Oregon Childrens Theater to see a play about baseball. Both girls seemed to enjoy it. Also, Roger & Mika went to see Rick Steves give a lecture on a travel documentary he did on Iran.
We celebrated Grammie's birthday last week with some pizza and amazing cupcakes that Mika cooked up. Of course Ellie just took her cupcake and ate all of the frosting off of it.
The girls have been enjoying their spring break and have watched a fair share of movies from the online NetFlix service. One of Nisa's favorite movies is "Grown-up Lock", which most people know as "The Parent Trap". :-)
We had a milestone event for Maile this week. When putting the kids to bed she voluntarily said, "I'm sleepy" and climbed into her bed and fell asleep. She still usually finds her way over to Mommy & Daddy's bed in the middle of the night; however, since then she has had a couple of odd instances of apparent sleep walking or at least night walking. One night she woke up and fell asleep under Ellie's bed and another night she woke up, climbed the bunkbed ladder and fell asleep in Nisa's bed.
Another big story from this week is that Ellie had one of her teeth extracted. Unfortunately, the story is less about the tooth and more about Mirabella, the tooth fairy, who slacked two nights in a row. Then the housekeepers came and the tooth was lost. Ellie was sad, but fortunately we found the tooth and Mirabella will be making an appearance tonight.
In Nisa-news, she finally decided to name her American Girl Bitty-Baby. The name... Brian. We have no idea why she chose the name or why Bitty-Baby is now a boy. In an unrelated story last night Nisa had a dream that she "threw a T-Rex off of the Earth." Also, Nisa drew some pictures this weekend of our family with Uncle Mark. There was one picture she especially liked with herself standing between Daddy and Uncle Mark.
Final updates... we signed Maile up for gymnastics this week and she loves it. Maile and Nisa have class at the same time so it works out well. Also, next week Nisa starts her taekwondo classes. :-)
