Busy Week

Ellie's musical theater performance was on Monday. It was a lot of fun and the kids all did great. The funny thing was that they had focused on the dance moves up until the week before, which was when Ellie was out sick. So that day Ellie showed up and found out that she was singing solo for the opening to their final song, "Tommorow." Ellie did a great job with the song and her lines, especially considering that she didn't have any time to practice them. After the show the teacher told us that she just knew that Ellie knows that song. :-)

Then following Ellie's musical theater class, Ellie was also rehearsing for try outs at Lincoln High Schools upcoming theater performance "Annie". Ellie spent a lot of time practicing her song "Maybe" for the audition and she did a wonderful job. Ellie was then called back to read some lines for Molly, the youngest orphan, and had everyone laughing with Molly's response to Miss Hanigan's claim that her bottle of alcohol was cough medicine, "You must be REALLY sick." At the end of Ellie's call back the director told them all that they would be in the play. We are not sure which role, but we are expecting a non-speaking part. We will find out tomorrow for sure, but regardless we are very proud of Ellie. :-)

This was Maile's first week on the daybed. For the first night Mika laid down next to her to help her go to sleep. But Maile figured out that she could grab onto Mika's hair and then everytime Mika would try to leave Maile would wake up. :-| Eventully Mika escaped and Maile seemed to to better with the sleeping arrangement as the week progressed.

Maile called for her first high-five this week. She was working on getting a piece of chicken on her fork. When she finally did Mika clapped and then Maile yelled, "High five!" and held up her hand. :-)

Roger was helping to clean up the girls room when he came across an assortment of American Girl accessories and asked Ellie where this "junk" should go. Ellie responded quickly, "Do you know what Uncle Mark would say if he heard you calling that junk?" :-)

This weekend we finally received our new 47" high-definition TV. It has been a month since we purchased it, but due to some mix-ups it took a while for us to finally get our hands on it. The funny thing was that in a slight oversight we forgot to update our NetFlix queue of movies and ended up having TWO American Girl doll movies being shipped to our house. So after all of this anticipation, for the debut of our big 47" TV we had an American Girl moviefest. We'll at least the girls loved it.

Maile's cute word of the week... "lilypop" for lollypop. She says it real quick. :-)
