September 28, 2008

This week was highlighted by Ellie’s back-to-school night, a trip to the emergency room and a controversial sleep over.

Roger and Mika both attended Ellie’s back-to-school night. We are very excited about Ellie’s new school, new teacher and new friends. It all seems really nice and we are looking forward to a fun year of homework with Ellie. :-)

After the back-to-school night Mika, Nisa and Maile were reading on Roger & Mika’s bed. After Mika was done reading Nisa, of course, didn’t want to go to her bed. When Mika called for Daddy to assist Nisa tried to jump down from the bed, but instead she lost her balance and landed headfirst into our TV stand. It was a fluke accident, but blood was everywhere and the cut was deep into her forehead. Nisa was conscious, but we didn’t want to move her so we called 911. The paramedics arrived in less than two minutes, cleaned up the wound and told us to drive her to the hospital for stitches. It was about 1:30am by the time Mika and Nisa got home from the hospital. Nisa stayed home from school the next day and is doing fine now. She is due to have her stitches removed on Monday.

One of Ellie’s new school friends invited her to a big slumber party sponsored by her friend’s taekwondo class. Apparently they have been doing this for years, but we just didn’t feel comfortable. So after lots of talks with Gram and Grammie and lots of drama with Ellie, we proposed a compromise… an evening at Chucky Cheese! Ellie had a great time and Ellie’s parents felt much better.

In a humorous story from this week, Nisa was playing ‘beach’ with her Biddi Baby. But before you go to the beach you have to put on sunscreen, right? So Nisa proceeded to rub glue stick all over Biddi Baby’s face. :-)

Here are some updates on Maile…
