Ellie's Big Weekend

Ellie has just wrapped up a huge weekend. Thursday night was the opening night performance for Annie. Saturday night was her second performance. Then Sunday Ellie was up bright and early for her First Holy Communion. Ellie did a great job all the way through. She proved herself to be quite the performer.

Thursday's opening night showed some jitters for the whole cast, but Ellie did a great job overall. She got all of her lines and did a decent job with the dance numbers. Saturday night's performance was even better. Ellie showed more confidence and really did a great job with projecting her voice in the musical numbers. But the real highlight of the weekend was her First Holy Communion.

She looked absolutely beautiful in her first communion dress. Mika noted that she had the best shoes in the group. :-) Ellie was up for singing the "Alleluia" song before the gospel reading. Mika went with her to back her up. At the rehersal Ellie was only able to sing the chorus and Mika sang the verse, so we weren't sure what was going to happen. But Ellie went up there with great confidence and sang the whole chorus and verse by herself. She nailed it and sounded absolutely beautiful. She was amazing.

Afterwards one of the chorus members came up to Roger to complement on how well Ellie had done with this in addition to her Annie performances. He then asked Roger if this is something she plans to be doing for a while. Roger's responded, "I think so. Whenever I am trying to get her to do math Ellie always tells me, 'My brain doesn't do math. It only does singing and dance.' " :-)

In other updates we have Teya and Josiah over for this weekend and we have Doc & Gram coming this Tuesday. This Wednesday we are scheduled to have Maile's tonsils removed so please keep us in your prayers for a smooth prodecure and speedy recovery.
